Music to Light the Darkness: A Lenten Concert

on April 15, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church

This annual benefit performance on Good Friday features Musica Spei in collaboration with Anne Maria Lim, organist, Anna Lenti, Choirmaster at St. Anne, as well as vocal soloists Kevin Spooner and Alissa Magee.

The audience will hear a continuous flow of choral works interspersed with solo organ pieces that reflect the somber nature of the day. Musica Spei will perform works by Guerrero, Byrd, Lassus and Asola. Organ works of Bach and Brahms, as well as a selection from the St. Matthew Passion and music of Couperin fill out the program.

The performance concludes with a “Tenebrae” by Croce in which the entire sanctuary is enveloped in darkness.
