Mendelssohns and More: Works by Felix, Fanny, Macmillan, Madden, McDowall, Meyerbeer, Moore, Mozart, and Muhly

on March 3, 2023 at Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word

You won't want to miss this eclectic program - mostly Mendelssohn with a sprinkling of other "M" composers from the 18th through 21st centuries.

With Felix Mendelssohn's "Sechs Spüche," Op. 79 as a scaffold, First Inversion builds a program with a bit of everything "M", very March appropriate.  Exciting juxtapositions of new and old music take listeners through the seasons of the liturgical year in a variety of times and places.  One of those times and places is the service of Compline at Christ Church, Rochester, with Jon Madden's 2022 setting of the evening chant "Te Lucis Ante Terminum," written for the Christ Church Schola Cantorum.  The program also features a lesser know chorale cantata of Mendelssohn with strings, two anthems of Nico Muhly with organ and solo string accompaniment, and a touch of Mozart for dessert! Tickets are available at the door with cash, credit, or check. We look forward to seeing you there!
