Choral Singing in America Docufilm Showing

Choral Singing in America: Nurturing the Country’s Soul is a visual representation of the breadth and depth of choral singing today. The first documentary of its kind, the film beautifully tells the myriad stories and sounds of American choral singers and leaders–stories that inspire, build community, foster hope, and showcase the tremendous social capital and community building of singing together. America sings in schools, in communities, in concert halls, on the streets, in churches and synagogues, in prisons, in hospice centers, and wherever hearts are moved to join in song.

This event is a collaboration of the WXXI Classical Presents Series, The Little Theatre, Greater Rochester Choral Consortium and Choral SInging in America.

The Greater Rochester Choral Consortium

The Greater Rochester Choral Consortium was organized in 1996 in order to anticipate and avoid scheduling conflicts among choral groups in the Greater Rochester area. It has since grown to 28 member groups varying in size and makeup, embracing some 800 singers of all ages.

Our mission is to enrich the Rochester community’s cultural environment by fostering the choral arts.
