Polyphony from Aquitaine to Paris

A historical journey through the development of sacred music in the 12th century.

Scivias sings organum from the earliest sources in Limoges, then they start finding their rhythm in the lush, intertwining lines of Notre Dame polyphony. Interspersed through the evening are motets written by Parisian clergy both young and old that are both sacred and yet a touch irreverent.

Scivias is directed by Heather Holmquest and assisted for this concert by Eastman PhD candidate Eleanor Price.
