The Ars Subtilior in France and Cyprus

on March 29, 2025 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Scivias presents works from the stylistic period known as the "Ars subtilior," or "the subtle art." These works are anything but subtle, though--you will hear music that is more harmonically adventurous and rhythmically complex than those from earlier Medieval periods. Works will be taken from two key late Medieval sources: the Chantilly Codex and Torino/Cyprus Codex. We will feature a number of instrumentalists as well!

Suggested donation $15 ($5 for students or those on fixed income)

This concert is supported by the GRCC and the Roger Wilhelm Annual Grant award.
