A City Sings for the Season

The Oratorio Society hosts its sixth annual afternoon of holiday music and dance with A City Sings for the Season. Special guests include the Hochstein Youth Singers, ROCmusic Collaborative orchestra and drum ensemble, Gospel choirs, and young dancers from the Rochester Dance Theatre.

New this year: Messiah for One and All
During A City Sings for the Season, we’ll hold an open-sing performance of selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” a December tradition for Rochester. Grab a score, join in the fun of singing, and savor the singular excitement of this familiar and beloved music. Admission is free of charge, and music is available for purchase at the door.

The Rochester Oratorio Society, founded in 1945, an auditioned symphonic chorus, produces 4-6 performances per season of the highest quality, performs with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, collaborates frequently with the leading arts organizations in the region, and produces the annual international solo vocal competition, Rochester International Vocal Competition.
