R. Nathaniel Dett wrote his masterwork, "The Ordering of Moses" as his master's project at the Eastman School of Music in 1932. Hear the premiere of a new, corrected edition by Jeannie Ma. Guerrero, Ph.D., with the Oratorio Society Chorus and distinguished guests, Thursday evening, October 13, 2022, 7:30 PM, at Hochstein Performance Hall.


This extraordinary music entered the repertoire immediately and has remained current for 90 years. This new performing edition, commissioned by the Rochester Oratorio Society, provides an avenue for choirs everywhere to perform and enjoy this work in its best rendition. The Roberts Wesleyan Chorale, Adam Potter, Director; the Nathaniel Dett Chorale of Toronto, Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, Director; the ROS Orchestra, and award-winning soloists join Eric Townell and the Rochester Oratorio Society Chorus.
